How we started
Mainsail Software LLC was formed in April of 2010 to provide a mechanism to deliver Software Design and Development services to multiple clients. Members of the company bring over 35 years of Software Design and Development experience. Mainsail Software LLC specializes in Service Oriented Architecture design, implementation and governance.
Technical Experience
- Website design and development using Joomla! CMS, PHP, and MySQL development tools.
- Definition of a Service Oriented Architecture Governance process and implementation in a third-party Registry/Repository to support publication of available Services, Service Interfaces (Web Service, Message Queue) to the development community.
- Definition of a Service Oriented Architecture design process and artifacts delivered to developers to ensure appropriate implementation of requirement specifications.
- Designing Service Oriented components that integrate multiple banking systems, internal databases, and external vendor services to deliver consistent and reusable business functionality available to internal and customer facing applications.
- Development of a web-based Automobile Insurance Claims handling application utilizing Agile development techniques, continuous build and Test Driven Development best practices.
- Creation of one of the first Mobile Wireless Automobile Insurance Claims handling systems housed in laptops utilizing early 1990's wireless technologies allowing mobile claims reps to perform immediate response claims processing in the field. This involved integration of mainframe hosted applications with an application on the mobile units using a messaging system approach. Upgraded versions of this mobile claims application is still in use today.
- Integration of an Oil Well Diagnosis Expert System with SCADA databases and the corporate email system to notify petroleum engineers of existing and/or impending issues with oil wells in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska. Engineers were emailed data files for oil wells that showed signs of problems, which upon being opened would launch a program to graphically display charts illustrating oil well behavior.
- Integration of disparate systems allowing an Artificial Intelligence Design Rules Engine running on Symbolics Lisp Machines, Corporate Databases, Applications, and high-end CAD systems to provide knowledge-based assistance to CAD operators.
Significant Engagements
This engagement was initiated in April, 2014 and was completed in December, 2017. Jim's role was as the site Webmaster; providing website hosting analysis, and site development, update, and support. In 2010 we also enjoyed Sailing the Great Lakes as members of MBIYC!
Nationwide Insurance
This engagement was initiated in October, 2010 and completed in June 2011 when Jim was hired as a full-time employee. Jim's role was as a Solution Architect, working early in the Enterprise Solution Delivery Methodology to identify architecturally appropriate and business aligned solutions. As solution execution progressed, Jim assisted the Technical Development Leads with design and implementation approaches.
